New Beginnings at H.O. Nash Junior High School
On Thursday, September 24th, 2026, at 1pm, the Y-Teen Initiative commenced its first session of the Fall 2026 monthly sessions with H.O.Nash Junior High School.
We began with a classroom of approximately 17 students instead of our standard 30 students as they had previously attended their first student assembly for the school term earlier that morning.
Our team consisted of YWCA members Inga Wealthy, Daphne Wood & Ashley Albury whose suggested theme "New Beginnings" structured our agenda for this session.
We invited the students to read out loud the YWCA information pamphlet that was prepared for their easy review & discussed the YWCA’s purpose & objective with them as this was our first introduction to the new 8th grade students. While enjoying beverages, Ashley chatted with the students and guided them through ideas and tips to navigate this season of new beginnings.
It was a short but eventful session and the students responded enthusiastically and although we realize that we have much work to do in this term ahead, we remain encouraged & now look forward to our next session on October 22nd, 2026.
