Commemorating the 1838 Emancipation of Enslaved Africans - FOX HILL DAY!

Minister Linda Thompson, a proud Fox Hill native, has once again invited the YWCA ladies to join her in celebrating Fox Hill Day at St. Paul’s Baptist Church on Tuesday August 11th at 11:00a.m. Anyone wishing to attend should let Andrea Knott know so that Minister Thompson can make the necessary arrangements.

Founded in the early 1800s by freed Africans and their descendants, the Fox Hill community began the tradition with church thanksgiving services, which eventually grew into the oldest festival in The Bahamas. Fox Hill Day celebrates the 1838 emancipation of enslaved Africans in The Bahamas.
